Another round of fantasy baseball cheatsheet updates is here today! The three available 2012 cheatsheets are powerful Excel files made for your roto draft, roto auction or point-based league drafts. They each pull in data from projection systems, expert rankings and ADP sites and let you choose what you want to display so you can make the cheetsheet unique to you. For roto leagues, the spreadsheet also has the neat feature of showing you the expected roto points gained (WERTH value) in each stat based on your individual league settings and the projections you select.
The following blog posts about the initial release of the cheatsheet have much more of the basic information about what to expect out of these: Point Leagues, Roto Draft, Roto Auction. When opening up the spreadsheet, you may be asked to enable macros… Please enable macros as that is the only way this spreadsheet can work!
The latest updates to the cheatsheets contain eight new roto categories for the roto sheets and include new ADP data (from Yahoo), expert rankings and projections (ZiPS). For hitters, the new roto categories are Total Bases, Total Bases + Walks, Doubles, and Triples. For pitchers, the new roto categories are Innings Pitched, Strikeouts – Walks, Hits Allowed, and Walks Allowed. Aside from those big updates, the most important change here is getting the ZiPS projections and Yahoo ADP added into the sheets. At this point, we’re just waiting on the Marcel and Steamer projections before I can add in the Combined projections for the final release.
In addition to those features, any ADP or projection data that was previously in the cheatsheets has been updated with whatever updates were available.

Data included for this release:
- CAIRO projections
- RotoChamp projections
- Fangraphs Fan projections
- ZiPS projections
- MockDraftCentral ADP data
- Yahoo! ADP data
- ESPN staff rankings
- ESPN (T. Cockcroft) rankings
- RotoChamp rankings
- Roto Summit rankings
- Yahoo! rankings
- Clubhouse GM rankings
- Combined rankings (average of available rankings)
New features for 2012 version compared to 2011:
- Team Summary tab added (as explained above)
- Live Standings now only based on team’s starters as opposed to all drafted players
- Draft Central tab is redesigned to be easier to read and follow
- Customize button added to have more control over what is shown and not shown
- Ability to sort by position now added so you can more easily target a specific position when needed
New features in this version compared to last:
- Four new roto categories for batters and four for pitchers
- Added ZiPS projections to the available projections to choose from
- Added Yahoo! ADP data and rankings
- Updated Fangraphs Fan projections and MockDraftCentral ADP data
- Updated any expert rankings that have changed
- Added 3 new expert rankings and updated combined rankings
- Added a few extra players to the default draft pool
So, that’s the latest update to the sheets. There will be additional updates in the near future as additional projections become available. Any major updates to the cheatsheets may be tougher to do at this point but let me know if there any features that might be worth adding. I still haven’t addressed problems for Mac users or those with Excel 2003 or earlier. I’m going to look into the possibility of doing AL and NL only versions of the cheatsheet as well, if the demand is large enough.
Also, be sure to check out my Twitter feed to know when any minor updates are made to the cheatsheets.

02/23/2012 at 2:46 PMWanted to give you some props, the spreadsheet looks great with the add ons, all my categories for my league are now included. Great work. I look forward to the composite projections, especially after your projection analysis article which was great too, btw.
Only request I have left is to include the Yahoo Average Auction Values and maybe a composite. My auction league on yahoo Ive noticed the $ values are quite a bit higher than other sites, especially the AAV's. I guess Yahoo users are big spenders! Thanks for the great work on this!

02/23/2012 at 5:33 PMHa, cool, I can get those added. Do you know if they have them posted anywhere on their website? I haven't started digging for them yet.

02/23/2012 at 7:45 PMPretty sure the Pos Avg for Catchers in the H2H Points sheet is off. For my league's setup (using ZiPS), it says the C pos avg is 452, but only 1 player is projected to have over that average. Also, did a quick comparison of 1B and 2B and the pos avg for those seems to be high as well. Just a heads up.

02/23/2012 at 8:02 PMI appreciate the amount of data you have available in your cheat sheets and can't wait to see it in action in the 2003 version.
Thanks for the work you do.

02/23/2012 at 8:20 PMDwight: I haven't been able to recreate the problem on my end at first but I'll test it a bit more with other scoring systems. One thing I should say that I didn't explain well on the Glossary page is that the Pos Avg is only averaging the points for starters at that position (so if it's a 12 team league then the 12 projected starting catchers based on your scoring system). But I'll look into it a bit more and see if I can get the same problem.
And, thanks, Ryan! I definitely hope to have something soon.

02/25/2012 at 4:56 PMFor those that have already downloaded these cheatsheets, you may want to download them again… I've added in the Steamer projections last night for all three.

02/26/2012 at 2:46 PMLuke, This is awesome man. Easily the most comprehensive and best cheat sheet I've seen yet. This is an odd request (and perhaps I could even try to add it myself with your guidance) but is there anyway to add batter K's into the offensive categories? My league format is R, HR, RBI, K, AVG, OPS, NetSB & W, CG, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP, NetSV. Very few people have this as an option but I figured I would ask.
Even without it, I'll still be using this right up until draft day. Great work.

02/27/2012 at 10:41 PMThe starters at each position based on league size makes sense. I downloaded the new spreadsheet and that fits with were about the shift in being above the position average and below it coincides for every position but catcher, which still only has 2 players above the average for my league's settings. I can e-mail you my specific spreadsheet if that expedites the process. Love the site, keep up the good work.

02/28/2012 at 12:12 AMHmm, yeah, go ahead and e-mail your sheet (my contact button's at the top of the page). Maybe there's something that affects certain league settings that I hadn't thought of.

02/28/2012 at 12:13 PMFYI. I had no problem imputing twenty teams this time. There must have been something wrong with my previous file. Thanks for the update!

02/29/2012 at 2:12 AMOops, posted this on the "First Update" page instead, so re-posting here:
Amazing tool, thanks.
I have encountered a couple of errors, though. After entering my league settings (13 teams, OBP and SLG instead of AVE and RBI, 4 OF), Live Standings shows nothing for the Runs column. If I go to settings, revert to the standard 5×5, the Runs column populates on the standings page.
Also, I can't get results to populate on the Team Summary page, both with my league settings, and reverting to standard 5×5.
Finally, a question: what is the difference between Total Roto Values and Overall Projected Standings?
Luke
02/29/2012 at 2:05 PMGood catch, David! I had something switched that was causing the wrong column to hide in such situations. I've fixed it and will be uploading that soon in my next update here (adding in a new feature that I want to finish up first).
As far as the Total Roto Values… those are an estimation of how the standings should go based on each player's WERTH value but the overall standings below them rank the roto values so it's more clear on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.
I'll send out an update once the new sheets are loaded.

03/01/2012 at 3:00 AMAwesome, thanks.
Is there a way to make the stat lines in the far right populate the league stat categories? When I input my settings, I get the WERTH value for OBP and SLG, but then the stat lines to the right still show AVE and RBI.
Luke
03/01/2012 at 3:07 AMWelp, not exactly but I got something even better coming in this next update. It's certainly possible for the extra columns but got a little cumbersome with the addition of so many roto categories.
Soooo, I have a Player Profile & Player Comparison tab that I'm adding in for the next update that will show all stats for whichever players you select, as well as all ADP/Dollar Values and Ranks and all sorts of other stuff. I hope to have it posted tomorrow… Trying to work out the kinks tonight.

03/12/2012 at 3:21 AMIs there a way to sort by league? My league is just National.

03/12/2012 at 4:54 PMThis is extremely impressive. Great job!
I have a question – is there a way to add another column for notes that I can put down for each player? I can't edit the document without unlocking it with a password … or can you send the password so I can unlock?
Luke
03/13/2012 at 12:14 PMOh, that's a good idea. I'll be doing a final update soon with updated ADP data and such. I'll throw that feature in there then. Keep an eye out for it!
Tom
03/18/2012 at 4:03 PMVery impressive. I would like to use your cheetsheet, the snag is that I belong to a roto league that is AL only. I tried to modify the spreedsheet myself to delete the NL teams and found the spreedsheet to be in read only format and password protected. Any help?
Jack
03/19/2012 at 10:35 PMLooking for AL only version of this fantastic work!
Luke
03/22/2012 at 12:59 PMTom and Jack, I'm hoping to have an AL only version up for this weekend! Hopefully you haven't drafted yet.

03/22/2012 at 3:53 PMIs there a way to change the HRs and Avg to OBP & SLG?
BTW, awesome work on this!!! Thanks in advance!

03/22/2012 at 3:55 PMLuke,
If helps running on a Mac and wouldn't let me click the "Settings" button, also a 13 team league. Thx!
