With a big fantasy baseball draft weekend upon us, I am releasing my final update of the cheatsheets for 2017. For those unfamiliar, these sheets are designed to be used in conjunction with your drafts to give you live data throughout the draft about who to draft and your team’s strengths and weaknesses. This cheatsheet gives you access to tons of projections, draft data, rankings and is customizable to fit your league’s unique needs.
What’s New In The Final Release?
This version of the sheet now has a new projection option: Special Blend With Steamer Replacements. The idea for that is that the projection system will primarily use my Special Blend projections (read about them here) but use the Steamer projections when there isn’t a Special Blend projection.
All of the ADP, auction values and projection data should be fully up-to-date as well now.
In addition, there’s been a long list of small little tweaks and bug fixes for all of the sheets. The points league sheets also get the addition of a number of new categories to choose from.
One of my favorite additions in this version though is the Player Notes page. On this page, you can choose the Note Type and enter notes for player. Then, on your draft page, there will be an indication of the note to the right of the player’s name that you can click on to read the note. I’ve already input a bunch of my own notes in there based on my research to give you a head start.
Cheatsheet Options
If you haven’t used this cheatsheet before, you’ll see that it is designed to accommodate nearly any type of fantasy baseball league imaginable. And, believe me, there’s more league variations than you could even imagine. That being said, it can be a bit overwhelming to see so many options for a new user. To get started, I’d just enter your league settings on the Settings page and leave most things with their default settings and dive in. If you don’t like the data you’re seeing, go back to the Settings page and maybe try some other Projections or Rankings on there until it looks good to you.
Once the draft is going, enter your picks into the sheet and see your Standings and data start to adapt and change for your specific league. The idea is that the cheatsheet will give you data and values that are completely unique to your specific league type.
WERTH Values (Roto Leagues)
If you’re playing in a roto league, you may notice that these cheatsheets have a WERTH value for each player. These are essentially z-scores in each roto category based on your league setting. The cheatsheets calculate who the projected league starters would be and then use that to calculate league averages and standard deviations in each category. Using that data, it then says how far above average each person is in that category (z-score) so a positive WERTH value means that player will contribute positively for your team. This is all dependent on your league settings which makes these values completely unique to your league.
Warning for Points League Drafters!
This version of the cheatsheet will not be able to load your previous settings without you taking special care. Due to the addition of new stat categories, the Save/Load page does not exactly match the previous spreadsheets. If you do want to paste over data, just do it carefully by pasting into the correctly labeled sections.

Troubleshooting
If you find errors in the sheets, let me know in the comments below and I’ll work on fixing those. I likely will not be doing any further updates as far as new functionality to the sheets at this point though. I’ll focus on fixing errors and updating data as needed until Opening Day.
Donations
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: these cheatsheets take tons of man hours to create. I really want to keep them free and keep doing this each year for you all. If you want to support the site to keep this going, punch that Donate button below:
Good luck in your drafts, everyone!

03/24/2017 at 5:44 PMHi, Luke. Your work is absolutely amazing. I’m going to make a donation here in just a bit. One question, last year I remember being able to type some notes out to the side on the “Your Roto Draft” page last year. Or I would highlight a player that I was interested in for a reminder. Whenever I try this year I get an error message that the sheet is protected. Is there a way to make some personal alterations or tweaks like this?
Thanks so much!
Luke Gloeckner
03/24/2017 at 5:53 PMThanks Joey! I had to go about the Notes a little differently this year. In this version, you can type your notes on the Player Notes page. An indication of what type of note it is will be next to the player’s name on the Draft page and then you can click on that to read the note during your draft. Hope that makes sense!

03/24/2017 at 7:43 PMThanks again Luke!
I’m using the RD sheet. On the ‘Your Roto Draft’ page, when I change from “Show Stats” (which is fine) to “Show WERTH” the category fields for all the players are blank. I thought that it may have been due to my settings being 0 SP, 0 RP & 9 P, but there are no WERTH values for either Batters or Pitchers.
The WERTH values do appear on the ‘Players’ tab still, so that data is available to reference when needed, but thought it would be prudent to raise a flag about it now. In case it was quick/easy fix to get the WERTHs propagating into the Draft Page.
FYI: just went back and tried changing the settings to see if when set to 6 SP + 3 RP had any effect, but there are still no WERTH values showing up on the Your Roto Draft page.
Thanks!!
Luke Gloeckner
03/24/2017 at 8:04 PMAhhh, that’s odd. Out of curiosity, did it download Version 2.0 by accident? If so, download again. Nate pointed out that the link was wrong.
I’ve got the sheet open and it has the WERTHs in it so let me know if you’re working with 2.50 as well… because then I’ll have to investigate.
Newell
03/24/2017 at 8:58 PMYes, sorry, didn’t even notice that it was still the 2.01 version. Just got super excited that the new update went up this afternoon before my draft starts this weekend. I will update again.
Newell
03/24/2017 at 9:07 PMThat was it, thanks.
All hail the Church of Mr. Cheatsheet!
And like any good parishioner I’ll be tithing 10% of any winnings (on top of the pre-season donation).

03/25/2017 at 10:21 AMHahaha, thanks man! I’ll be cheering for ya.
Nate
03/24/2017 at 7:51 PMHi Luke, thanks as always for your work. Right now, when I click the download button for the Roto draft sheet, I’m still getting version 2.0 instead of 2.50. Looks like 2.50 is working for Roto Auction & points, but Roto draft is still giving me the older version.
Luke Gloeckner
03/24/2017 at 8:00 PMAh whoops. If you click the button, the link is right. The text below it has the wrong link. I’ll update in a second though.
paul
03/24/2017 at 10:13 PMFantastic! In the Points sheet, when I try to sort by StdDev, it separates hitters and pitchers and doesn’t sort by this properly.
Luke Gloeckner
03/24/2017 at 10:19 PMInteresting! I’m in a draft at the moment but I’ll check it out before tomorrow morning.
Luke Gloeckner
03/25/2017 at 10:24 AMThanks for pointing this out. I just uploaded an update of the Points sheet that should fix that sorting issue!
Dave Robbins
03/25/2017 at 11:41 AMHey Luke,
This sheet is amazing, but I have one question; How does one enter protected players in the event of a keeper league?
Thanks,
Dave
Luke Gloeckner
03/25/2017 at 11:48 AMIs this a draft? If so, you have two options: enter them on the Keepers tab OR, if the team sacrifices a draft pick for the keeper, enter them directly into the Draft Log into whichever draft pick spot the person is sacrificing.
Dave Robbins
03/25/2017 at 11:49 AMsome addtl info; I’ve tried entering it in the “Your Roto Auction” tab, and I can select my league teams in the pull down, but the player pulldown is empty. The “aution log” I can enter a team name in the pull down, but I get invalid data when I enter a name in the player cell.
Luke Gloeckner
03/25/2017 at 11:56 AMThat’s certainly odd. So, if I’m understanding your situation, the drop-down list in the Auction Log and the Your Roto Auction tab are not showing anything for players? Is that right?
Dave
03/25/2017 at 6:40 PMThat is correct.
Luke Gloeckner
03/25/2017 at 6:46 PMWhich version of Excel are you using? Perhaps send me a copy of your sheet with your settings to luke at mrcheatsheet.com. I haven’t heard of that happening before.
Luke
03/25/2017 at 12:08 PMFirst off, thank you for this tool yet again.
Any time I try to enter in a value for a drafted player (setting keepers with prices, using Roto Draft Auction sheet) it gives an error and cannot unprotect the cells that correspond to that player. Clicking on the player does not bring them to the top of the sheet either (both in the “Your Roto Auction” tab.)
Luke Gloeckner
03/25/2017 at 12:19 PMInteresting. So you’re on the “Your Roto Auction” tab and clicking on players and nothing is happening and it gives you an error when you try to enter the info at the top and click Make Pick? In your Excel options, go to Formulas and see if you have it set to “Manual”. If so, change it to Automatic and that should fix the problem with clicking on players not working. But, can you describe what you are doing when it gives you an error? All of the pick entry should be done from the drop-downs in the header bar (this is different than past years, if you used older versions of the sheet).
luke
03/25/2017 at 12:38 PMFigured out the problem was with LibreOffice and something with the script it was trying to run to unprotect the cell. Had to switch to a trial of Excel and it seems to work just fine.
Luke Gloeckner
03/25/2017 at 12:41 PMAh, yes, I wish it would work on other spreadsheet programs but Excel is the only one I can say it’ll work on for sure.

03/25/2017 at 1:00 PMLuke, Thanks, this is great stuff!
Luke Gloeckner
03/25/2017 at 1:01 PMNo problemo! Glad you like it. Good luck in your draft(s)!

03/25/2017 at 1:08 PMThanks. I run my wife’s website, kinda funny her pic shows up when I comment on your site 🙂

03/25/2017 at 4:50 PMHey Luke,
First, thanks for doing this! This is by far the best sheet I’ve found.
Second, I don’t think Yordano Ventura is supposed to be on this list.
Sal
03/25/2017 at 5:55 PMHas your top 300 been updated?
Robert
03/25/2017 at 9:14 PMHey Luke,
I’ve never done fantasy baseball before but am confident because this sheet is amazing. I set up v2.0 but would like to use 2.5. When i download the new version, the projections seem messed up. Every stat is showing 0-5 for every player. So Trout is projected 2 HR, 3 R, 2 RBI, 1 SB, etc and this is the case for all players. Any idea why this is? I have macros enabled and all that.
It also seems like changing the “cheat sheet setup” in the settings page doesn’t reflect in the “Your Roto Draft” sheet. So i cant change the ADP, projections or rankings.
Luke Gloeckner
03/25/2017 at 9:35 PMThe values that are between 0-5 are their roto value in that category. You can click on Show Stats at the top to see the actual stats instead.
Robert
03/25/2017 at 9:23 PMJust wanted to add that the projections are accurate in the “Players” tab but it is just not showing in “Your Roto Draft”. I also confirmed it is v2.50. Thanks for your hard work!
Luke Gloeckner
03/26/2017 at 10:12 AMRobert, did my comment last night help solve the issue? The 0-5 values are their roto value for one particular category (total WERTH would be all of those values added up).
John
03/25/2017 at 11:34 PMHi Luke,
I added Chris Young to the “Import Projections” tab but it doesn’t populate “Your Roto Auction”
kevin
03/26/2017 at 9:59 AMLove the spreadsheet so far, first timer user. I using the 2.5 version of the auction sheet, started with the 2.05 version entering my keepers into the “Your Roto Auction tab. I don’t seem to get anything in the Projected Value, or either of the inflation columns. I’m not sure if it’s due to a setting that I configured, or if there is an issue with the spreadsheet. I’m using Excel 2007 by the way.
Any help you can provide would be appreciated. thanks.
Luke Gloeckner
03/26/2017 at 10:12 AMHmm. That seems odd. Send me a copy of the sheet to luke at mrcheatsheet.com so I can check it out and see if there’s some setting causing the issue or something.
KEVIN
03/26/2017 at 2:16 PMdownloaded the 2.51 version and things are looking better. I”m getting the projected value, projected value w/inflation. Nothing in the site value w/inflation though.
Joe
03/26/2017 at 5:32 PMHey Luke,
First off, thanks for the great tool. I drafted a player in the “Your Roto Auction” tab that wasn’t in the player list. How do I get that player to appear in the “Roster” and “Teams” tabs?
Thanks Again,
Joe
Chuck
03/26/2017 at 7:24 PMLuke,
I know version 2.55 is out, but there was a problem when copying the saved data. On 2.50, I’m trying to remove a player from a team, and it doesn’t work. Whenever I delete the player, it pauses for a bit, then the player’s name appears again. Same if I delete the team name or the price.
Chuck
03/26/2017 at 7:30 PMNever mind. I was trying it from the Auction Log instead of the Saved Data
Luke Gloeckner
03/26/2017 at 7:33 PMI’m not by my computer tonight but I’m pretty sure I fixed some bugs with that page between v2.50 and V2.55. I’ll check later tonight though.

03/26/2017 at 11:01 PMI love your site and your work Luke, and I am using it right now. But come on… .508 OBP for Votto this year?
The ghost of Ted Williams would like to have a word with you.
Happy drafting everyone!
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 12:58 PMWhich of the sheets are you using and which of the projections did you choose to get that result for Votto? That seems strange.
Trent
03/27/2017 at 8:52 AMHey, great work on the spreadsheet…but I have a couple of questions. Thanks in advance for the time to answer, donation forthcoming as I know this has to be time consuming and a labor of love!
1) On the roto sheet, it seems the projections to use dropdown is missing the import your own option.
2) A follow up on #1…the auction sheet has a ‘your own custom combination’ option in the projections…can this be easily ported over to the Roto sheet? I wanted to somehow incorporate PECOTA projections, but try to somehow incorporate them into your ‘special blend’ (which I assume the values that get defaulted in the weights are your special blend?)
3) About using the roto sheet for H2H leagues…I am in a standard H2H 5×5 league and just wondering how you would go about setting the pitcher positions so the WERTH values don’t seem ‘out of whack’. For slots we have 2 SP, 2RP and 3P (plus bench)…Since it’s H2H, most teams will roster 6 or 7 SP and obviously rotate through them…whereas in Roto you’ll likely have IP or starts limits, so those 6th/7th guys don’t really matter. If I try to bump up the # of SP roster spots, the WERTH system seems to WAY overvalue SP. Not really expecting a spreadsheet change for this, just curious how you’d navigate the information during the draft.
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 1:02 PM1) Good catch. Try downloading again and the Import and Custom projection options should be there again.
2) The custom combination just has the options for the projections that are in there by default. So imported projections aren’t a choice unfortunately at the time. It’s a good idea and something I’ll look to add in.
3) Hmm, it’s hard to say. From a data point-of-view, I can’t think of a way to manipulate values to reflect that. For me, I’m in a lot of H2H leagues and I basically just keep in mind that pitchers are very valuable and therefore draft more of them. Despite all of that data being in there, I always use it as a guide as opposed to a strict rule about who to draft.
Chase Reamer
03/27/2017 at 11:12 AMLuke, Love this stuff. Having an issue though. Had a draft yesterday and I’m trying to go through and put in the players everyone drafted using the Your Roto Draft. But It keeps deleting the first drafters name from round 1 which essentially is throwing everything else off. I’ve downloaded the latest version. Probably something I’m doing wrong. Thanks for any help.
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 1:07 PMI added a row to the top of the Draft Log and forgot to fix how it was referenced from the Save/Load page so that created that problem. Try downloading the sheet again now and it should work.
Chase
03/27/2017 at 1:48 PMI just re-downloaded the newest roto draft sheet and it is still deleting the 1st or 2nd drafters first pick. It’s fine until you get to around the end of the 2nd round and then it just disappears. Sorry for the trouble. Thanks for the help.
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 1:50 PMThanks, this is good to know. Very odd that it works fine until the end of the 2nd round. Is this with keepers or not? I’ll try recreating it on my end to see if I can figure out the underlying issue.
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 2:02 PMI figured it out. Try downloading again! Thanks for pointing this out so I could get it fixed.
The Hospitaller
03/27/2017 at 12:07 PMHey Luke,
Once again, amazing job on the sheets and thank you for all of the tireless work you’ve put into them!
One problem I’m having with the Version 2.55 Auction Draft sheet: I’m getting error messages about the sheet being in ‘Protected’ mode and having to ‘unprotect’ in order to change certain settings (like # of roster players) or when I copy & paste my information from Version 2.0 or 2.5, the settings are not reflecting those prior changes. To ‘unprotect,’ Excel is prompting me for a password. I see the older versions were also on ‘Protected’ mode, but I never had these problems with those sheets.
Any advice? Do I need a password to make changes or am I doing something wrong this time?
Thank you!
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 1:10 PMHmm. Okay, so at what point is it asking you for a password? The cells that are protected are typically ones that have formulas in them that shouldn’t be changed. I guess, walk me through precisely what you’re doing and where it is stopping you so I know where the problem might be occurring. Thanks!
The Hospitaller
03/27/2017 at 1:36 PMFor instance, when I try to copy & paste my league settings from Version 2.0 into the Version 2.55 “Save and Load” page, I get an error message entitled “Microsoft Visual Basic” and the message reads: “Run-Time Error ‘1004’–The cell or chart you are trying to change is on a protected sheet. To make a change, unprotect the sheet. You might be requested to enter a password.”
Please advise. Thanks!
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 1:45 PMHmm, I just tried doing that on my own and can’t recreate the error. Perhaps try downloading it again and see if it works in a new fresh copy? Let me know if that works.
Chuck
03/27/2017 at 1:50 PMI got the same error yesterday after downloading 2.55
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 1:52 PMI did a minor fix this morning to the sheet so perhaps try downloading it again. I don’t know if that sheet was protected for some reason in the version that was there initially. Let me know if that works.
Tim
03/27/2017 at 1:47 PMHello – thank you very much for this resource. I just want to clarify one thing. Is the “ST Dev Above Pos Avg” based on the settings I submitted for my own league, or is it based on some other format that was predetermined? I ask because the league I’m in is very different from any of the major sites.
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 1:53 PMYou got it. It’s based off your league settings. It looks at the projected points in your league and then the projected starters at each position and determines how far above/below average a player is at their position according to your settings.
KEVIN
03/27/2017 at 2:14 PMI haven’t seen this in any prior post, but forgive me if I missed it elsewhere. What is the correct way to add in a player that is not in the spreadsheet, so that it can be drafted, seen in the auction log, rosters etc. I have a team keeping Matt Szczur, but this could happen via the draft also. Thanks in advance.
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 2:22 PMYup, if you choose Unlisted Player for him then it’ll let you keep your draft on track. Let me know if you have trouble finding that!
Newell
03/28/2017 at 5:41 PMIs it possible to add projections for an unlisted player? I tried adding Koda Glover’s projections manually via the Import (Projections), but am unable to find reference to him, or the #’s on the Roster Page. No worries, if not, mainly looking to get updated stats on the Projected Standing calculations, so really no consequence if I can’t.
Thanks!
Will
03/27/2017 at 6:08 PMLuke,
This is fantastic thank you very much! I do have one question on the import (Values) option. I have done so, and it looks like they are loading correctly initially, but at this point it is showing the values lower than what I imported. For example I imported trout at $43, but on the Your Roto Auction it shows as $39 in the Chosen Site $ Value column. Is there a way to stop it adjusting the imported values as those have already been adjusted for league settings, etc.?
Thanks again for all your hard work!
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 6:28 PMYeah, I forgot to include a note on that page. The values imported should be based on a $3,120 league budget for a 12 team league… It will then adjust the values to your league settings. I want to add an option for you to choose whether to convert the values or not but haven’t gotten around to it. it’s on the list.
Will
03/27/2017 at 6:49 PMAny idea what the calculation would be for adjusting existing values from a 10 team, $285 budget would be?
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 7:01 PMThat would be a $2,850 league budget so if you multiply all of your values by 1.0947 (aka, 3120/2850) then they should end up being correct in the sheet. I’ll try to get a fix in for this soon though.
John
03/27/2017 at 7:22 PMHey Luke, this is fantastic. Was able to put all my league rules and log all my keepers. Stupid question -> I’m running your sheet on my macbook air and it’s moving super slow to crunch the numbers / I’m afraid it’s going to be too cumbersome to use during the draft itself. Any tips for this?
Thanks – John
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 8:12 PMHmm, that’s odd. This is using Excel on the Mac (not Numbers or another spreadsheet program)?
John
03/27/2017 at 8:18 PMYa, could be my computer or something – Just noticing it’s taking about 20 seconds each time I log a pick which cuts down on the time to actually make use of the tools available. Worse comes to worse I’ll just use it for initial prep.
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 8:24 PMSheesh, yeah, 20 seconds would be unbearable. That’s really unfortunate. Sorry about that. Out of curiosity, what version/year of Excel is it?
John
03/27/2017 at 11:08 PM2011
Luke Gloeckner
03/28/2017 at 12:30 AMAh, okay, I was curious if it was 2008. I know that version would potentially have some issues. Hmm, yeah, I dunno. I hadn’t really heard about the performance issue thing before.
Jon
03/27/2017 at 8:10 PMHi. Amazing tool. I do have an issue. I get a statement “The cell or chart you are trying to change is on a protected sheet. To make changes, click Unprotected Sheet) in the Review tab. I guess I need a password. What is it?
Jon
03/27/2017 at 8:18 PMI figured it out.
Luke Gloeckner
03/27/2017 at 8:23 PMAh, out of curiosity, what was it that you were trying to do that required a password? Only things that are protected are formulas that could break the sheet if you change them.
Steve
03/31/2017 at 11:06 AMHey Jon how were you able to get into the sheet?
Brian
03/27/2017 at 11:17 PMAny way to show Position Adjusted WERTH in the “Positions” tab? Right now just shows RAW unadjusted WERTH and I can’t find a way to change that. For some reason I think previous years’ versions showed the position adjusted value.
Thanks
Luke Gloeckner
03/28/2017 at 12:32 AMThe previous years did have position-adjusted value, yeah. I figured it wasn’t necessarily since that page is broken down by position itself so I did the raw value. A couple other people had brought up wanting to see the adjusted value but I hadn’t gotten around to making that update yet. I’ll let you know if I do.
Frank
03/28/2017 at 9:02 AMThanks so much for your time putting these together. I am very excited to use this for my upcoming draft on Friday but am having issues. I downloaded the point league file and updated the settings page but the settings do not seem to change the “your points draft” page. Also on the “your points draft” page when I change the ” sort by” cell or any other cell at the top right nothing on the page changes. Am I doing something wrong?
Luke Gloeckner
03/28/2017 at 11:15 AMIn your Excel program, go to Options then Formulas and see if they are set to Manual instead of Automatic. If so, change them to Automatic and try closing the program then opening the file again. It sounds like Excel is currently set to not run any formulas and that’s why it is not updating.
J
03/28/2017 at 12:32 PMI’m having issues with the Auction Log page. I tried to enter players, and it won’t allow me to choose them. Team dropdown also isn’t working. I’m on Excel 2010, and I’m using V2.55
I have the players drafted on a separate excel sheet (copied and pasted from CBS) that I’d like to paste here to come up with projected standings.
Luke Gloeckner
03/28/2017 at 12:35 PMSo, you click on the drop-down to enter a player and the drop-downs are blank?
J
03/28/2017 at 12:43 PMWhen I click the drop-down it shows the names, then when I choose the guy, it doesn’t “take”. It returns the cell to blank after making the selection.
Luke Gloeckner
03/28/2017 at 12:51 PMHonestly, I hadn’t heard that issue reported by folks so it’s hard for me to say what it may be… Perhaps try downloading the sheet again? Maybe something corrupted the file that you downloaded. Outside of that, maybe checking under Options in Excel and Formulas to see if it set to Manual and changing it to Automatic.
Kala
03/28/2017 at 11:45 PMThis is amazing. Thanks for all the hard work!
Luke Gloeckner
03/29/2017 at 5:56 PMNo problemo! Happy drafting
Kyle B
03/29/2017 at 4:15 PMThanks Luke! Is there a way I can add a fantasy statistic under the settings tab? (Batters: total bases, kinda a redundant state, I know) . Using version 2.55.
Luke Gloeckner
03/29/2017 at 5:55 PMIs this for the roto sheets? If so, total bases should be in there already!
Jim
03/29/2017 at 5:20 PMHi Luke, the spreadsheet is amazing – thanks for putting this together. My league already had our draft a few days ago and I want to manually upload the teams into the spread sheet to use all season. Do I have to go to ‘auction log’ and go player by player by player, or is there a way to type the first and last names of each player in the ‘rosters’ tab. Would save a ton of time. Right now if I try to do that, I have to unprotect the sheet and then it asks for a password. Thanks, I appreciate it!

03/29/2017 at 5:58 PMIf you go to the Your Roto Auction tab, you can do a player search for each player, type in the name and enter them in that way. That may be quicker than doing them from the drop-downs on the Auction Log tab. In future years, I’d plan to have a keepers tab (I have that in the Draft version of the sheets) that would make this type of entry quicker for you but, for now, I’d use the Your Roto Auction tab for team entry myself.

03/30/2017 at 1:19 AMHi Luke,
This spreadsheet is anything you could ever ask for. Thank you. Is there a way I can add players to the Player Notes page. Currently there’s no spot for Brett Anderson.
Thanks again!

03/30/2017 at 6:40 PMI don’t think he’s in the sheet at all actually!

03/30/2017 at 1:17 PMLuke,
Just downloaded the points spreadsheet and I tried to enter in the keepers and it still says “0 players to be kept” – Edit: Seems like the first 5 lines do not work.
Rich
03/30/2017 at 1:36 PMactually, when I do that and click the assign keeper button – nobody goes to the teams and they aren’t taken off the positions tab
Rich
03/30/2017 at 1:38 PMI got it now, I guess the first 5 rows did work, then I copied and pasted and then it assigned properly 🙂 Nevermind, great work!

03/30/2017 at 2:00 PMWhen I look at pitcher projections on the “players” tab – the projections seem to be out of whack. Guys with 79.00 ERA, etc.

03/30/2017 at 6:41 PMGood catch. You’re right. I’ll check it out.

03/31/2017 at 9:03 PMIf you download again, it should be fixed now.

03/31/2017 at 7:37 AMCheck on Carlos Carrasco. I am not getting any stats for him on my master list. Under “Players” he has a blank line for CAIRO and Special Blend, and blank for QS for Clay Davenport. I sent you a similar note on twitter.
Luke Gloeckner
03/31/2017 at 12:08 PMThat’s correct. CAIRO did not have a projection for him this year. The Special Blend projections use CAIRO within them so they also do not have a projection for him. You can use Special Blend W/ Steamer Replacements to ensure that he has a projection in your calculations though.

03/31/2017 at 11:04 AMDoes anyone know the password? In excel it’s asking for a password to unprotect the sheet, I can’t edit anything. Thank you for the help!
Luke Gloeckner
03/31/2017 at 12:09 PMHi Steve. What are you trying to do specifically that requires a password? The cells that contain formulas that would break the sheet if modified are password protected but anything related to the functionality of the sheet, like picking players, changing positions and such, is unprotected.

03/31/2017 at 11:37 AMLuke,
Thank you so much for the sheet. This is my second year using it, and it’s definitely the best thing I’ve found for my points league.
Anyway, I’ve put in all of my draft results now, and it seems like the sheet is missing 1-2 players from every team.
I’m in a 12 team league, and our roster size is 30. I’ve inputted my draft results by making a separate (blank sheet) with the picks in the correct order, with the first column being the name of the player and the second column being the team they were drafted by, and then pasting that onto the “Save and Load” tab. If I go to the “Your Points Draft” sheet, cell C6 tells me that there have been “(360 total players picked)” and C5 tells me that the current pick spot is 361. So, it seems like the sheet has the information about all 360 drafted players.
However, on the “Rosters” tab and the “Teams” tab, 1 to 2 players are missing from every team (there are 5 teams with 28 players and 7 teams with 29 players). Yet, I’ve independently verified with my separate draft results sheet that there are 30 players on each team (using the same data pasted onto the “Save and Load” tab and doing a COUNTIF formula for each team.
Any idea what’s causing this?
Thanks,
Chip

03/31/2017 at 12:11 PMWhich version of the sheet are you using? I think I had caught this and updated it in the latest version (2.55).
Chip
03/31/2017 at 1:07 PMI am using version 2.55. I also re-downloaded the latest version and input the same data, and got the same results.
I was able to play around with it a bit in the past half hour, and it’s kind of weird. The player that’s not showing up on my team is Josh Donaldson. I can move him to some other teams (by going to the “Draft Log” and picking a different team in the drop down box for his row) successfully (i.e., he shows up on the Rosters/Teams tab), but not all of them. Also, I’m able to get him onto my team by removing Nolan Arenado from it, but, as soon as I have both of them coming to me in the draft log, Donaldson is gone.
Would you like me to send you a copy of my sheet? Or even just the Save and Load tab?
Thanks again,
Chip

03/31/2017 at 4:00 PMHey Luke, just stumbled across this prepping for my draft – seems awesome. Thing is, I want to customize/edit some of the rankings based on my own personal preferences. Is that possible?
Luke Gloeckner
03/31/2017 at 4:04 PMUnfortunately I don’t have the capability in there to modify the rankings/projections that it generates. What I’d typically recommend, if you want to use the sheets but your own preferences noted in there, is to use the Notes page to write your player notes in. Once you put your notes in there, they’ll show up next to the player for you to view during the draft so you know what players to target or avoid.

03/31/2017 at 8:01 PMLuke – this is amazing, man, I’m really pumped I found your site. One really small bug I found that I thought I would point out – my league requires 9 pitchers, but doesn’t specify RP/SP, so I entered 0 for those and 9 for P. However, the Std Dev above Pos ends up totally blank for this setting for SPs, and only gets filled out for RPs. The workaround I’m using is just entering amounts for SP/RP, just to get an idea, but it would be nice if for leagues that don’t specify SP/RP, to see a combined “above pos avg” for all pitchers as a whole.
Again – this is so dope man, really cool of you to share this for free.
Luke Gloeckner
03/31/2017 at 9:00 PMThanks for pointing that out. I did a really quick update that should resolve that if you download it again.
Patrick
04/01/2017 at 10:30 AMFirst, thank you for sharing your work. It’s really appreciate and for me work just very well in the last two years I using it.
Just want to point out that earlier this week I used the points league and the roto league files for “my super wednesday double pool draft day” 🙂 and found those bugs (maybe I’m late reporting it. At least can help for next year) :
In Points cheatsheet (v2.55) :
– After having set the Team Names and Draft Order in the Settings sheet, teams are not updated in DraftLog. I had to manually set the team’s name in DraftLog sheet. Otherwise I had to manually select the team name in Your Point Draft sheet at each pick.
– In Rosters and Teams sheets, IF position is never filed by any players for any teams. In those sheets too, third OF position are filed for many teams while they have OF on their bench.
In Roto cheatsheet (v2.58) :
– AVG, ERA and WHIP stats are not good. AVG for batters are all at .000, ERA between 0.02 to 0.04 and WHIP at 0.01 for every pitchers.
Patrick
04/01/2017 at 10:33 AMCorrection to this sentence : “– In Rosters and Teams sheets, IF position is never filed by any players for any teams. In those sheets too, third OF position are NOT filed for many teams while they have OF on their bench.”

04/01/2017 at 10:46 AMWhoa. All of those things seem way off and very odd and, oddly, not the behavior I’ve seen on my own or seen reported for them. Which version of Excel were you using? And, if you could, send me over a copy of the cheatsheets with your settings to see if maybe there’s some funky setting in yours that caused the odd behavior? My e-mail is luke at mrcheatsheet.com.
Patrick
04/01/2017 at 11:18 AMThe team names and draft order thing seem to come off when I use the Save and Load sheet. I retested it this morning and I can reproduce the behavior when I copy paste team name from an another sheets. If I write it directly in Settings sheet the draft log is correct.
I’ll sent you an email while I found other things.
Luke Gloeckner
04/01/2017 at 11:24 AMAh, yes, that could be. I made a note in there and this article that there are issues with the Save/Load sheet in the latest Points sheet (as a result of me adding new stats to the Settings page) so that could be part of the issue. I’ll check out your e-mail.

04/01/2017 at 4:36 PMYou may have answered this and I can’t find it. We don’t have a minimum bid in our league. We can spend our $260 on 10 players or 40 players. Once your money is out it is out and you wait until the end. Anyway to change that minimum bid to 0 in the Auction cheat sheet? It is reporting an error when I try for 0. Thanks and awesome work.
Luke Gloeckner
04/03/2017 at 1:06 PMHmm, yeah, I’m not sure if it would accept $0 at the moment so you might want to just do $0.01 or something. I’ll check it out. Granted, the minimum bid is just set for calculation purposes of player values so you can still enter a $0 bid for a player even if that isn’t your set minimum bid.

04/01/2017 at 7:17 PMLuke, I tweeted this at you too. I am prepping for an NL only auction next week and am confused by the inflation values on the Your Roto Auction sheet. The values in the PROJ VAL WITH DRAFT INFLATION column never seem to rise, and only seem to drop, regardless of what players are selected and what price they were selected at. Example: Kris Bryant’s starting value is $24. After selecting Rendon and Franco (both 3b) at $100 apiece (just testing), Bryant’s new inflation value is $22. By the same token, if you have Franco and Rendon both going for $1, Bryant’s inflation value is $24. Those things don’t both seem like they can be accurate. Am I just misunderstanding?
Also, once I start selecting hitters, the SITE VAL WITH DRAFT INFLATION column goes blank for all hitters but remains populated for pitchers. Is this a bug?
Luke Gloeckner
04/03/2017 at 1:03 PMYou can check the inflation rate at the top of the page. Drafting Rendon/Franco for a combined $170 over their initial price is going to drop the inflation rate for hitters because there is now less money available to spend than expected for the remaining hitters. Drafting them for a combined $27 under their initial price would raise it because there’s now more money available but it won’t affect the inflation rate quite as much since it’s not as big of a change.
As far as the inflated site value disappearing, that could be related to your league size. If you’re in a big league with lots of teams and starting players, it may throw errors there and blank out that column due to there being less site values than starters in your league. I’m aware of it and just hadn’t uploaded a fix because of the busy weekend.

04/02/2017 at 1:31 AMLuke,
I used open office to run the spreadsheet last year and it worked great. This year I’m having some issues with the drop down boxes not populating. I just downloaded Roto Auction V2.58
Jim D.
James M Dezackk
04/02/2017 at 2:00 AMThe Categories are not populating for my 4×4 league all boxes are blank. Where I’m supposed to weight the sources in “Rankings to show” I get err;502
Luke Gloeckner
04/03/2017 at 1:07 PMSorry about that, I’m not familiar with OpenOffice so it’s hard to say. I changed a bunch of things this year to make the sheet compatible with Excel on Macs. I’m not sure if those changes would have included things that don’t work on OpenOffice.

04/02/2017 at 3:51 AMThis looks great Luke, but I am having the same issue I’ve seen in several other comments – with no reply. When entering unlisted players, they don’t carry over to the teams or rosters tab (thus are not tracking rosters or salaries accurately). I’ve tried entering the picks on both the ‘your roto auction’ tab and the ‘auction log’ tab – but again, unlisted (or manually entered players – unlisted minor league players) do not carry over. Any fix for this – or something I’m doing wrong? I also tried entering them manually on the team tab or rosters tab – but both are password protected. Thanks again for this, I really hope that I can make this work!
Luke Gloeckner
04/03/2017 at 1:10 PMI’ll check it out. It’s possible that someone else mentioned it before but I didn’t see it. Thanks for bringing it up.

04/02/2017 at 12:35 PMHi Luke, I am in an auction league and have downloaded the latest sheet. Each team has a budget of 270 and 24 players to draft (14 hitters, 10 pitchers) with a min bid of $1. Max bid on the projected standings sheet shows up as $246, but should be $247?
Luke Gloeckner
04/03/2017 at 1:09 PMI’ll check it out.

04/03/2017 at 11:41 AMThanks Luke. Well done. One suggestion for next year (and, I’m not sure Excel is capable of this) … it’d be nice to have within the “Your Auction” tab a column where you can check-box players you’re interested/targeting, and that once checked, that player is highlighted on your Positions tab. The trick being, once that player is drafted, it becomes UN-HIGHLIGHTED on your positions page. It’d help keep you alert during the draft to see when your LAST target is on the board.
Luke Gloeckner
04/03/2017 at 11:49 AMThat’s a good idea. The Notes feature is supposed to help identify targets. I could make it so someone with a note is highlighted either green or red (depending on the Note Type being good or bad). I’ll fiddle around with it but I like the suggestion.

04/04/2017 at 5:04 PMHi Luke, Thanks a ton for all the work you do. The stat projections on the roto cheatsheet I just downloaded are all showing up as 1 or -1 or 0 or 2 or 3 etc. instead of actual stats. For example, Billy Hamilton shows up as 6 for SB. This is the same regardless of what projection I select in settings. Thoughts?
I know the season already started (my league drafts late), maybe that’s causing it somehow?
Luke Gloeckner
04/04/2017 at 5:05 PMThose are the Roto WERTH Values (how many standard deviations above/below average the player is in that stat). Click Show Stats instead of Show WERTH Values in the top box to see the actual stat projections.
