I’m not dead yet. I know there was some concern about whether I’d be publishing anything in 2018 due to the lack of updates thus far but, look, here I am updating and posting a thing. A very important thing in fact! This thing I’m publishing today is why the site has cheatsheet in its very name. Yup, here are the beautiful 2018 cheatsheets in all their glory and they are free for download as always.
Last year was a big year of overhauls for these Excel cheatsheets as I implemented countless new features and made it so the cheatsheets could be used on both Mac and Windows machines. This year, we’re rolling ahead with those versions as they worked so well last year.
Fire up your latest version of Excel and let’s dive into these crazy monster spreadsheets.
What Makes These Cheatsheets Special?
Gosh, that’s a good question. At their heart, they are designed to accommodate almost any off-the-wall variation of a fantasy baseball league that you play in. Do you play in a 10×10 roto league with lots of wacky categories? Yeah, this will cover that and cover basically any league you throw at it. The spreadsheet takes your league settings and generates player values based on your league so you know what a player is worth in that league world. Once the draft gets going, you can keep track of it in the spreadsheet and it will update projected standings and rosters for you so you can analyze the crap out of your league in real-time.
Also, there’s just tons of options in this spreadsheet when it comes to different projections to look at or auction values or whatever you want to know from various places around the internet.
What’s Changed From Past Years?
For those that missed last year’s updates, here are some of the highlights:
- For straight drafts, the cheatsheet tracks draft order now. As you enter picks, it automatically will fill in who thinks has the next pick based on your settings. This allows for there to be a draft history in a tab now. This also means you can trade draft picks within there.
- Since the cheatsheet tracks draft picks and order, you can also now enter keepers in separately so they don’t affect draft order.
- During the draft, instead of scrolling around, you can enter all picks at the top of the page now by choosing the teams and players drafted and clicking Make Pick. Or, you can enter picks into the Draft Log directly if you wanted. You’ve got a few options.
What Data Am I Pulling In?
There’s a ton of data in here and most of it isn’t mine. So I owe a big thanks to all of these sources.
- Projections Sources: Steamer, ZiPS, Fangraphs, Clay Davenport
- Average Draft Position Sources: FantasyPros, CBS, ESPN, Fantrax, Yahoo, NFBC
- Auction Values Sources: FantasyPros, CBS, Yahoo, RotoChamp
- Expert Rankings Sources: FantasyPros, Yahoo, CBS, ESPN
WERTH Values (Roto Leagues)
If you’re playing in a roto league, you may notice that these cheatsheets have a WERTH value for each player. These are essentially z-scores in each roto category based on your league setting. The cheatsheets calculate who the projected league starters would be and then use that to calculate league averages and standard deviations in each category. Using that data, it then says how far above average each person is in that category (z-score) so a positive WERTH value means that player will contribute positively for your team. This is all dependent on your league settings which makes these values completely unique to your league.

Troubleshooting
In the interest of getting these out into the world as quickly as possible, I admittedly didn’t get a chance to utilize beta testers this year. So, please let me know if you encounter bugs or issues with the sheets as you play with them. In the month ahead, I’ll work on addressing those as well as trying to optimize these spreadsheets to run faster (I know these initial versions are a bit bulky and may run a bit slow). You can keep track of my spreadsheet updates by following my Twitter where I’ll let you know when updates happen.
Donations
I’ll be honest. These take a ton of work. I want to keep these free. I know there are resources like mine out there that charge money but I’ve never wanted to go down that road. That being said, donations help keep this site afloat and keep me wanting to come back and do these each year so I’d appreciate any small donations you’d give to help fuel my coffee addiction and such. If you’re cool with that, punch the donate button below:
Hope you all enjoy the sheets and have a great 2018 season!

03/04/2018 at 9:07 AMHi Luke,
Great to see this year’s version of the sheets. I wonder if you could add another type on the Player Notes tab: Topper. If we don’t want to sign a player, we can keep their topper rights, which means when the bidding ends, the person with the topper rights can buy that player for $1 more than the highest bid. It’s helpful to know who has topper rights, so you can see if that person has a spot for the player. Thanks.

03/04/2018 at 9:14 AMHey Luke
Just stumbled on to your site! I was in search of an Excel sheet I could use as a solid base for mine and what you’ve done here is beyond awesome. I may need to add a lookup at this point and that’s it!! I’ll certainly be making a donation and wanted to express thanks for an amazing draft tool you’ve put out here.
FYI, I did see the points sheets still seems to be the 2017 version.

03/04/2018 at 9:34 AMAwesome! Let me know if you have any questions as you dive into the sheets. And, thanks for the heads-up about the wrong link. I got that fixed. Appreciate that.

03/04/2018 at 9:53 AMThanks so much! Donation forthcoming! Are your ADP projections updated for 2018?
micah rapoport
03/04/2018 at 9:58 AMSpecifically, is the data you are pulling in updated to show the 2018 projections? Having a tough time importing new ADP projections because I haven’t found anyone else with excel spreadsheet data.
micah rapoport
03/04/2018 at 9:59 AMapologies for the duplication
Luke Gloeckner
03/04/2018 at 10:22 AMYup, all of the data in there is for the 2018 season. On the Credits page, you can see the date that the data is from. But the projections and ADP and rankings are all the latest information.
Luke Gloeckner
03/04/2018 at 10:27 AMActually, there was one link above that was pointing to the 2017 sheet by accident. I fixed that. So if you were seeing old data, try again.

03/04/2018 at 10:49 AMAny chance you will be doing a head to head category draft ranking?

03/04/2018 at 11:18 AMI’ve been looking for a good reliable point projection spreadsheet to customize for my league. I really appreciate the hard work you put into this. I’ve downloaded the spreadsheet to WPS Office on my IPad but it’s asking for a password to unprotect it.
Luke Gloeckner
03/04/2018 at 11:21 AMHonestly, I assume it wouldn’t work on that program. I designed these specifically for Excel so I can’t guarantee any success with other spreadsheet programs unfortunately because I haven’t tested it on those so I don’t know what quirks they may have to throw things off.

03/04/2018 at 11:40 AMGreat tool much appreciated!…Do you do any rankings based on Analytical stats???
Ricardo
03/04/2018 at 12:05 PMThanks for all your hard work! I look forward to this every year. Any chance you can add AVG and OBP (hitting) and ERA and K/9 (pitching) to the Points draft sheet?
Luke Gloeckner
03/04/2018 at 12:24 PMI’m not sure how that would work for Points leagues. A points league gives points based off accumulating stats each week (1 point for a hit, 2 points for a double, etc… like fantasy football). You may want to check out the Roto sheets…
Rick
03/04/2018 at 12:14 PMAwesome Job! Anyway to link the “my draft tab” to the “positions” tab… When a player is drafted in the my draft tab, they then get removed from the positions tab. Or vice versa, when player is selected in positions tab their name is inserted into “player to pick” box.
Kenny
03/04/2018 at 12:59 PMADP seems to be out of order. Sort and filter are greyed out.
Luke Gloeckner
03/04/2018 at 1:11 PMWhich sheet? Roto or points?
Kenny
03/04/2018 at 1:15 PMRoto
Luke Gloeckner
03/04/2018 at 1:20 PMYes, you wouldn’t use Sort & Filter actually (I have a lot of code that runs behind the scenes that would get messed up if you did). On the right side in the black box area at the top of the Roto Draft page, there are various sort options there. If you choose Sort by ADP, it should be sorted correctly. At least that’s what I’m seeing on my end.
Kenny
03/04/2018 at 1:34 PMYes it seems correct now, but Werth scores were also not in order on positions page. Trout and Trea Turner were near the bottom. Strange.
Cameron
03/04/2018 at 1:50 PMThanks Luke! Are you able to add Outs to the pitching points categories?
Paul
03/04/2018 at 5:05 PMOuts would just be under innings pitched. 1 out = 1/3 an inning.
Peterpeterpumpkineater
03/04/2018 at 3:19 PMDid you used to offer points auction sheets? I must be losing my mind I thought that was a thing.

03/04/2018 at 5:24 PMLuke,
Love the spreadsheets and am making a donation as well. My question is I want to be able to use the WERTH ranking but when I click on the hyperlink it is saying that it is password protected. Is there a workaround or can you provide the password. Thanks a lot.
Chris
03/04/2018 at 7:11 PMJust downloaded for first time…great sheets.
The roto one seems to be working extremely good. The points based one seems to have a few bugs. When you enter team names under draft order (settings page), the new names seem to be transferring to KEEPERS, PROJECTED STANDINGS and ROSTERS only. Its not transferring to YOUR POINTS DRAFT and DRAFT LOG like in the roto cheatsheet. Just a FYI
Dave
03/11/2018 at 10:46 PMI’m having this problem too.
That being said, this thing is awesome, thanks so much.
Jason
03/13/2018 at 5:16 PMYep, I have been having this issue as well.
Adam
03/21/2018 at 12:52 PMI was having this problem with Team Names and think I found a workaround. Change all your settings and team names, go to “Your Points Draft” tab and enter a pick to start the draft. Then go to the “Keepers” tab and click “Reset Draft.” Once you do that, everything looks right on the other tabs with correct team names.
Great spreadsheet, Luke!
Katie
03/21/2018 at 3:13 PMThank you, Adam! I wasn’t looking forward to trying to keep all the names straight during the draft, and this worked!

03/04/2018 at 9:49 PMExcellent worksheet!
I’m using the Roto Auction worksheet and it seems like the Average of All $ value on the Player Page is not working right. For example, Mike Trout’s average is showing as $38 even though all the values for him from the sites are higher than that.
Dumpster Divers
03/15/2018 at 10:15 AMI’ve also noticed this. The Auction values for the top players don’t seem to be adding up for any of the specific sites either.

03/05/2018 at 12:23 PMMade me nervous that you wouldn’t be back this year, hadn’t seen much on the site thus far.

03/05/2018 at 1:13 PMDo these work for mobile devices?

03/05/2018 at 3:44 PMThank you for all your hard work!
Is there any chance a Points+Auction Sheet could be made in the future?
Thanks!

03/05/2018 at 7:48 PMHey, thanks so much for this awesome cheatsheet! I absolutely love it!
I was wondering if I’m able to add more than 12 pitching categories in the scoring setup. Can I just copy and paste row 12, rename to 13, and add another category, or will that row not be picked up?
Also, how easy is it to add scoring categories? I’d love to see net S+H, and especially Relief Appearances as well.
Chris
03/07/2018 at 4:20 AMI was wondering the same thing.
Omar
03/06/2018 at 12:14 PMQuestion about the “Chosen Site $ Value” in the auction spreadsheet- I assume when I sum up the values there it should equal the total pool of $$ available for my league but instead it seems about 31% low. For example, i’m in a $270 budget, 12 team league so I’m expecting to see $3240 but instead the total dollars is $2232 (the same for inflation, although this is without any “drafted players”). Theoretically i’d expect the league to spend 100% of the available budget, even if by the end certain players are “worthless” right? Based on the categories (close to 5×5) its showing Trout being worth $40 which would be fantastic if he isn’t going to be kept for something like $75 so i’m wondering whats the reason for the delta

03/06/2018 at 2:39 PMWhen using the “Import Your Own Projections” and “Your Own Custom Combination” the stats get a bit screwy (i.e. George Springer projected for a .408 OBP, Joey Votto for .481, and Joey Gallo for .367). Will this be resolved in the next release of the sheet? Love the work done for this draft prep. It’s extremely helpful
Dan
03/07/2018 at 1:01 AMHey Luke, just made donation. Thanks!
When I input custom league position settings and categories (9×9), the Position Adjusted Werth goes up for every player and every position. I can see some players go up a larger percentage (and it does seem like the right players when considering our categories/settings), but shouldn’t some players Pos Adj Werth go down from their regular Werth?
Also, is there password to unprotect position eligibility for editing to match Yahoo?
Matthew
03/07/2018 at 2:28 AMHey Luke!
Do you recommend drafting based off of ADP or WERTH?
Thank you!! 🙂

03/08/2018 at 10:17 AMLove your stuff man, they are some seriously amazing worksheets! I am using the Roto Auction cheatsheet, and each time I try to update the auction log to input keeper values so they projected values adjust, the “Winning Team” field and “Winning Bid” field delete whatever I put in, so im unable to update which teams have what players at what price.
Thanks man!
Ben
03/08/2018 at 1:17 PMOn the Roto Auction sheet, it isn’t letting me input keepers in either the draft page (error: protected cells) or the auction log page (just won’t allow input). Is there an override?

03/09/2018 at 9:53 AMHow do I do NL only projection sheet?
Steven
03/09/2018 at 8:19 PMThanks, Luke! I really appreciate the sheet.
I found a possible bug in the Points sheet (ver. 1.00). I’ve entered all of my league’s team names on the Settings tab but when I go to draft, I have to use a drop down menu to select the team before each and every pick. This wouldn’t be a big deal except that I have to keep track which team’s name is matched with each team number. Last year, the team name automatically advanced after a pick was made. If it’s an easy fix, I’d recommend doing it; if not, no big deal.
Thanks again!
Katie
03/11/2018 at 12:13 AMI was going to ask the same question. Instead of the team name I entered on the Settings tab, it just says Team 1. I went back to check last year’s sheet, and it was working there, so hopefully it’s an easy fix. Thanks so much for these!
Ryan
03/10/2018 at 10:51 AMLuke,
Thanks for all you do man, just donated! For the roto auction excel is there anyway way Wins + Quality Starts can be added as a category? My league is switching to this stat versus just Quality Starts for this year. Thanks
Doug
03/10/2018 at 3:19 PMLuke, thanks for the years of good work. Made a bit of a donation to show the appreciation.
I’m using the Points sheet and it doesn’t seem to be fully working. The draft log is not changing to the settings: number of teams or name of teams. Also, the keepers aren’t tallying right under “keeper tracker” and not being removed from the draft page.
Thanks!
Doug
03/10/2018 at 3:33 PMClarification, the Pick and Rnd columns did change correctly, but the Team (with assumed order) isn’t correct. On the keeper tracker the top 6 teams are tallying right, but the bottom 2 aren’t (7th one is missing one, and the 8th one is missing all).
NJB
03/11/2018 at 10:44 AMThis is fantastic. I wish I found this sooner, I would have used this hands down fingers crossed you guys do this next year.

03/11/2018 at 10:48 AMHi Luke – first off – outstanding work. Finished first 2 of last 3 years and it wasn’t anything I did….all you!! Thank and donation forthcoming!
Question: On roto sheets, anyway to set a sort filter for “Werth by position”?
PJ
03/26/2018 at 11:39 AMThis feature would help me out as well
Blake
03/11/2018 at 11:26 AMHi Luke, first year using this so bear with me but on the ROTO sheet when I update the custom league settings the WERTH Rank column updates but not the Expert Rank. Should I be going by the WERTH rank? (The expert rank says it updates based on settings).
Dave
03/11/2018 at 11:30 PMThanks for so much hard work – Really impressive. A couple bugs I noticed on the points sheet:
-Entering a team into the Settings tab does not show them on the Draft Log tab, it seems like the draft log tab in general needs work because even when I manually enter a team onto the list, the values don’t change further down the list either
-When I choose the “Cheatsheet Special Blend” projections it makes many of the player projections blank – no score, no color, just blank cell

03/12/2018 at 11:42 AMHey Luke, thanks as always for the cheatsheets. Look forward to using them every year.
One small question – how do the sheets determine a team’s starters, and thus whose stats get counted in the projected standings page?
I’m using the roto draft sheet, and I have a couple instances where the sheets puts players in the starting lineup over others at the same position that have a better werth/ADP/expert ranking and were drafted earlier.
I’m wondering if this is a bug, or if it’s not, what the cheatsheets use to decide starting lineups since based on all the main metrics it provides, the other player “should” be in the starting lineup.
Two examples:
1. Michael Conforto (-1.9 WERTH, picked 196, ADP 184, expert ranking 167) is placed in lineup over Kyle Schwarber (-1.8 WERTh, picked 124, ADP 164, expert ranking 162)
2. Nate Jones (-4.4 WERTH, picked 316, ADP 356, expert ranking 367) is placed in lineup at RP over Brad Ziegler (-3.8 WERTH, picked 268, ADP 343, expert ranking 309)
Thanks for your help!

Drew
03/14/2018 at 3:46 PMThe “Import Your Own Projections” feature on the Roto Auction sheet may be broken. On the “Your Roto Auction” sheet, 0 HR, 0 RBI, and 1 SB are shown for every hitter, and their projected RBI show up in their R column. It looks changing the HR projections still affects their WERTH rankings (despite no change in HR being visible on the auction sheet), however changing SB doesn’t seem to do anything.
It’s a great spreadsheet and I appreciate your work. Just wanted to point out this bug that you may not be aware of.

03/15/2018 at 12:33 AMHi Luke, great job, this is legit. is there any way you could add TB and BB to points categories in settings?
Dumpster Divers
03/15/2018 at 10:19 AMOn the Roto Auction worksheet, the Chosen Site $ Values do not seem to be working. Fantasy Pros pulls Mike Trout in at $40, actual is $55, and CBS pulls him in at $29 when the actual is $40.
Great worksheet, will be using this for my draft regardless!
Eric L.
03/17/2018 at 7:57 AMGreat job as always! Ran into a slight problem on the Roto Auction Cheatsheets. As I am doing finishing touches on the sheet, I compared my max bid value with the info the commissioner has and the cheatsheets were off by a dollar for every team. My remaining budget is 121 with 11 players left to draft. Cheatsheets show $110 max bid. this would leave $1 left in my budget after all positions are filled.
Keith
03/17/2018 at 9:09 AMWhen I click on the link for the projections, all I see is an empty Google sheet document. Not sure what I’m doing incorrectly. Probably making a mistake with something. Thanks.

03/17/2018 at 2:59 PMOn the Roto Auction sheet (and probably all of them) , to the Show Only selection box on the Auction Log, could you add Hitters, so that we can display just the hitters if we want to?

03/18/2018 at 9:16 AMWith the completion of the draft yesterday, I came across a player who was drafted but not in the database. Catcher Tyler Flowers for Atlanta. I checked all three cheatsheets and starting with a fresh clean download, he was not listed.
The other problem I ran into became a real mess when after awhile of entering names into the roto draft auction sheets, clicking/searching for a name that is to be bid on would not add the name to the player auctioned field. I had to go under the settings tab and change the Projections to use field in order to get it to work again.
This is with Microsoft Office 2007. Still enjoy the sheets though!

03/20/2018 at 12:41 PMThank you for the great resources. Any news on when the points league sheets will be updated and when the printable tiers sheet will be ready? I have a draft Friday afternoon so hoping for those by Thursday. Much appreciated any update on the timeframe for these that you can provide!
